we get this question a lot.

First, mochi is a play on words -
each massage we give encourages
the flow of increased energy/life force
--also known as chi in Chinese or ki in
Japanese—in your body, mind and spirit - hence, mo’ chi.

Secondly, mochi is a Japanese rice cake made of
glutinous rice massaged into an impossibly soft (dare
we say, relaxed?) and pliable confection. mochi-making
is considered an art, and is usually made in times of celebration
(i.e. new years’)

Growing up in Hawaii, where mochi is popular, Winnie thought
it to be a perfect analogy for the feeling you might get after bodywork.
